Rahul Tewatia, the young all-rounder from Rajasthan Royals, rose to popularity overnight after his blistering innings in the recently concluded match against Kings XI Punjab. Post his innings, he is believed to have received an important call from New Delhi.
Touted as one of the greatest comebacks in T20 cricket, Tewatia’s innings encapsulated the human spirit. At one stage he was 8 of 18 balls at a strike rate of under 50. In the 18th over, he upped the strike rate to more than 160 by hitting 5 sixes of Sheldon Cottrell’s over. Commenting on the innings, an expert said,
“This has to be one of the fastest spikes in strike rate in the history of cricket. The commentators and others had given up on him. People were talking about him getting out soon. What a comeback! What a turnaround!”
Following his innings, he is rumored to have received a call from the capital. A representative of the Finance Ministry called him whether he would be interested to join the ministry to revive the falling Indian economy.
“All of us know the situation of the Indian economy. It is similar to the Rajasthan innings yesterday except that it was more hopeful. After seeing Tewatia bat and spike up the strike rate and bring down the required run rate, we are confident he would do the same thing for the Indian economy. We will be going against our ideology and trust a Rahul this time.”
